He must have missed at least once, because I could see where the bullet passed through several sheets of drywall and was patched and repainted.

Anyway, I half-way expected to seem some spirits, at least for a little while before they got bored with me. None.  It was actually a nice little house.
Most 'hauntings' are just residual energy left behind.
In the case of your house, I would expect if there was anything at all, it would be electrical issues or things falling.
That's why most hauntings occur in hospitals, hotels, nursing homes, funeral homes, etc. Because people in those locations are in high stress situations.
The energy bleeds off and sticks around. It's not an intelligent haunting. It's simply energy.
In the case of spirits that actively try to get your attention, those are mostly transitioned souls who want to share a message with someone left behind.
Souls will find the path of least resistance. Mostly they will leave signs such as a song on the radio, visit in dreams, coins, feathers, animals, etc.
They may also find a medium. That's tough work for a spirit. I honestly believe that after a short amount of time, transitioned souls stop worrying about what is happening here. They have things to do on the other side. Time passes differently there. A year here is probably only a few minutes over there.
Of course I can't prove that either.
